About UX Rewind

With UX Rewind I plan on taking off my gloves and really give my unfiltered critiques about the user experiences of websites.  Although I agree that “Content is King” this paradigm is shifting to “Content and Experience are King and Queen”.  Bad user experience design can turn away users because content can be found in so many other places.

At least once week I plan on doing a “UX Rewind” of a website.  I’ll do an extreme website makeover and show what the website could have been.  I encourage you to send your comments on my new designs and submit links to websites that might need some work.

About my UX experience:

I started in the visual design realm and joined a small startup called EveryScape. After doing mostly marketing & brand identity work, I was given bigger website tasks. Soon I was given the challenge of redesigning the designing the EveryScape portal.

I stumbled around and kind of hacked my way to a design but learned alot in the process. Wireframes and sitemaps weren’t even in my vocabulary up until that point.

Ever since then my obsession with UX has grown. I read UX books, go to UX meetups, and have this internal critic pointing out bad UX on every website I go on. (I know it’s a blessing and a curse…)

UXrewind has given my critical UX voice a way to manifest itself. I’m still shocked when I see questionable UX decisions on the biggest websites in the world.

It’s been fun writing for UXrewind. I’m always surprised when the creator of the website I’ve critique contacts me. So far I’ve been contacted by David Pogue (Writer for the NYT) and the Founder of Blank Label as a result of critiquing their sites.

Hopefully this blog gives people some food for thought. Shoot me an email. I’d like to hear from you.
